Phildo > Bonus day 31 - My Desert! This is one of my favorite spots to hang out. Every once in a while I spot a deer or a Redtail Hawk. :) It's been fun everyone, and this will be my final post. Thanks for looking! Oh, if you don't like the border blame my daughter! :P
Phildo > Day 30 bonus - High Flier!
Phildo > Day 30 - Park fun! Well, this is officially the last day but I will post again tomorrow so I will have shot for a full 31 days this month. Today was just a fun day in the park.
Phildo > Day 29 - For kimbomac! Since she had never seen a Saguaro I am posting more info. Saguaros have to be at least 50-75 years old before they develop offshoot arms. The one in yesterday's photo is probably 18-20 feet high and around 200 years old. This Saguaro has reached the end of it's life, either from disease, animal or human damage. If you zoom you can see the ribs inside that are starting to separate as it decays. In the past, Indians used the ribs for bows, arrows and shelter.
Phildo > Bonus! As requested by Rhiannonsmommy, the whole car. ;) Nothing special about the shot and I was in such a hurry you can see me in the reflections and that's my truck in the background. The pesticide company "Truly Nolen" buys these cars and park them around town as advertising. I doubt they have engines! ;) Oh, I was wrong! It's a 1934 Hudson!
Phildo > Day 28 - Crested Saguaro! I've been told the bizarre growth seen here occurs in one out of every 200,000 Saguaros. I pass this one everyday and finally took a shot. No one knows for sure what causes it, either genetic mutation or lightening. I vote mutation since there is another one just like this 100yds away. Seems too much of a coincidence for them not to come from the same parent plant. ;) Zoom for details of the weird growth!

Phildo > Day 25 - Cactus Wren nest. Not really happy with this shot but I didn't have much time to shoot today. Anyway, this is a Wren nest and they build them between the arms of the Cholla cactus as most predators aren't stupid enough to risk pain for a cheap meal! :)

Phildo > Day 23 – “Stupid motorist law!” In Arizona we have what’s called the “Stupid motorist law”, which means if you drive into a flooded wash and have to be rescued, you pay for all costs associated with the rescue. Last night we had a pretty good storm and I passed this on my way into work this morning. I have no idea if the person had to be rescued. I do know the sticker on the windshield is a warning, however, that this vehicle is about to be towed! ;)
